This inclusive project was started in 1996 by Antonio Nodar, who has been photographing artists in black & white, and giving them a print on to which they render their response in a medium of their choosing. The project has grown organically by word of mouth to include artists from Asia, Central America and Europe, and is still ongoing worldwide. The proceeding resembles a dialogue, where the question posed by the photographic portrait is answered by the treatment it receives at the hands of the artists, and when both, (the photographic portrait and the artwork produced by the artist as a self-portrait) are united, the dialogue is then considered completed. Through his lenses Antonio captures and catalogues a wide range of artists, some of which are no longer amongst us. Thus, by the passage of time the project becomes a historical document that reflects, and showcases the diversity of artists and contemporary artistic styles.
